Benedict's Moscato
This sweet dessert wine is the merging of past and present. My two identities of being unapologetically Catholic and the influence of my father are powerfully tied to my own core values. The lily flower weds the two symbolizing rebirth and hope in Catholicism and in my own personal journey. Since my father's passing, I've learned to welcome adversity. Even though petals wither and fall, these two pillars keep me rooted in my path of unfinished beginnings.
Ideation & Sketches
I began by compiling a mood board of images that I would reference based off of my themes and identity that I wanted to emphasize. I included a lot of Catholic imagery and symbolism and I ultimately chose the lily flower as the core vision for the label. Afterward, I did several rough sketches of the label utilizing the lily iconography.
I digitized several iterations of the front label in black and white to visualize how the elements would work together.
Refinement
The stained glass had a strong visual language that represented the key parts of my identity which paired well the graphic language of the lily. I mainly utilized a heavy illustrated label to tell my story. It centers around the lily flower against the stained glass windows with several petals falling down. Moscato is a sweet and vibrant perfumed wine that often accompanies dessert. The illustration with soft and muted colors complement the subtle and sweet notes of Moscato wine. On the back, the informative text sits next to the main lily illustration to unify the back and front label. The added description at the top further convinces the extravagant flavors of the wine.
AR Component
Once scanned, the QR code on the back gives the viewer an infinitely looped augmented reality experience triggers when the viewer approaches the bottle within a few centimeters. Petals slowly flutter down as the lily waves back and forth. The added grain texture gives the windows a sense of depth and grittiness. Here is a link to view the AR experience.
